Candlewood is a venerable Ipswich neighborhood first settled in the 1600's. This rich farming country was originally covered by a pine forest. Early inhabitants illuminated their homes by burning thin strips of the pitch pine called 'candlewood' The original section of the house was built by Stephen Kinsman circa 1726....
